Art Project
For my art and technology project I decided to make a graduation announcement. I will finally be graduating in June and thought that making my own announcements would fun and add a cost less than professional announcements.
Tools used:
-
Computer

Microsoft Word
-
Microsoft Office Picture Manager
-
Paint
-
Internet
In order to create the invitation I decided to primarily use Microsoft Office Word. I have typed papers in word, but I have never used it to create art. I started out by looking for some clip-art with a graduation theme. There wasn’t any, but I did go on-line to the Microsoft website and searched the clip-art there. There was a lot more available on-line so I found a few that I liked and downloaded them to my computer. The colors on the clip-art were not exactly what I was looking for so I copy and pasted them into the paint program on my computer. There I changed the color of different aspects of clip-arts that I chose to use. Once that part was finished I recopy and pasted them back into my word document.
I arranged the clip-art where I wanted it. It took some work though since I had to change the text wrapping settings in order to put clip-art on top of other clip-art and still be able to see all of them. I then added text boxes to put in the text, again using text wrapping to make it look right, as well as other setting that allowed me to have various borders and backgrounds for the text portion of the announcement.
The result was good. I was pleasantly surprised with what is capable in Word if one is willing to mess with it enough to make it look right. I then pasted the announcement into Microsoft Picture Manger, cropped it a little, and save it as a .gif file so that it could be imported into WordPress, again using the internet.
